What is BSTI?

BSTI is the authority to verify and certify whether the quality of the products or imported products of Bangladesh is correct. To get a BSTI license, traders must meet the conditions set by BSTI and must have their products tested in an authorized laboratory.

 

The tests are conducted according to the guidelines of the International Standards Organization (ISA). This ensures that businesses or factories are able to produce quality products that are safe for consumers.

Types of BSTI License

BSTI license is essential for companies that want to manufacture, package, label and market products in Bangladesh. There are two types of BSTI licenses “Type A” and “Type B”.

Type 'A' License

This type of BSTI license is required for companies that combine raw materials with chemical ingredients during the manufacturing process. Using dangerous goods; Such licenses are also required for such companies. Because they are highly flammable.

Type 'B' License

This type of BSTI license is required for companies manufacturing and distributing food, medicine, makeup or various cosmetic products in Bangladesh.

Requirements to get BSTI License

Product Making Process

You must have a specially designed factory, which is applicable to BSTI license. These include:

Documents required for BSTI License

You will need certain necessary documents to get a BSTI license. The documents required for BSTI license are:

  1. Copy of the applicant’s company’s trade license.
  2. Copy of the TIN certificate.
  3. List of machinery used for production in the factory.
  4. Copy of the trademark registration of the applicant’s product.
  5. All the information on the package or label of the product such as manufacturing date, expiry date etc.
  6. Information on all components of the product.
  7. Flow chart of factory production processes.

How to get BSTI License

Step 1 – Fill in the license eligibility

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) regulates the quality of products produced in the country. To get a BSTI license, the applicant must prove that their product meets the conditions laid down by BSTI. This includes providing test results that ensure that the product meets safety and quality requirements for consumers.

Step 2 – Fill the application form

To get a BSTI license, you must fill an application form and submit all the required documents including the result paper from the approved testing lab to the One Stop Service Center of BSTI.

Step 3 – Application Fee Payment

After submitting the application form and all the required documents for BSTI license, you will have to pay a certain application fee. They will then give you a confirmation slip.

Step 4 – Factory and Product Monitoring

After completing all the work of applying for your license, a report will be prepared by verifying all the information of your factory and product by BSTI within 6 days. If the results of the report are satisfactory, they will send a letter of license to your address.

 

Then you have to go to their office with your product and get the product finally tested. If everything is okay, you can take the license by depositing the license fee. You can then use their logo on your product.
